The Take on Race Coalition is collaborating with the Digital Dreams Project to specifically address digital inequity by activating coalition members’ employees and communities to donate their idle, functioning devices to be repurposed—or turned into cash—to support black and brown students in need. The collection process will be performed virtually through a donation portal or at a physical collection event hosted at a safe location for individuals to participate in contactless drop-off.
Selective Insurance donated over 375 devices to the Digital Dreams Project. Their commitment to helping bridge the digital divide will have a powerful impact to their local communities in New Jersey.
PlanITROI will be working with Digital Dreams Project Partners in programs that will provide low-cost refurbished recertified devices with extended warranty support to low-income households. PlanITROI has already committed to donating 10,000 Chromebooks to be distributed to students in need in communities across the country.
The Town of Stratford, Connecticut sponsored a device collection drive on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The event produced a great turnout and was an awesome display of unity and community coming together to make an impact on the digital divide. The devices collected were transformed to dollars that purchase iPads to help connect their senior community to telehealth resources and loved ones.
